Classroom Expectations

Most people have difficulty learning if they do not feel safe, trusted, and respected.  We will work hard to make this classroom a place where students feel free to be themselves and push themselves to grow and mature.

All school rules apply in this classroom (see Student Handbook).  In addition, students are expected to uphold these five classroom rules:

1.       Be prepared.

  • Bring all books and materials to class. (book, notebook, homework, pencil/pen)
  • Be in your seat when the bell rings and logging on to a computer.
  • Come willing and prepared to learn and succeed. Bring a positive attitude and creativity.
  • Take care of water and restroom needs before class. Using the restroom during class is for emergencies only and should be done at an appropriate time (during individual programming time) and not during whole-class instruction.

2.        Be respectful.

  • Students must treat themselves, the teacher, others, and the school with respect.
  • Be kind to the computers in our lab.
  • Refrain from touching others with hands, feet, or objects.
  • Speak kindly to others.
  • Give the teacher and your peers your attention.

3.       Be responsible.

  • Do your tasks and invest your best effort in them.
  • Control your behavior to support our comfortable learning environment.
  • Log off of your computer before leaving the lab.

4.       Actively Participate.

  • Ask questions when you are confused.
  • Participate during discussions.
  • Volunteer your answers, work, insights, and thoughts.
  • Engage during class.

5.        Listen to instructions...

  • ...the first time they are given.
