Computer Science
Welcome to C.S. at Woods! I am very excited to have you in class and to get to know you. We will strive for a fun and comfortable learning environment that promotes our ability to be creative and explore different aspects of computer science. This course has primarily a computer programming focus as we learn about Alice (1st semester) and JAVA (2nd semester). But, we will also discuss some basic computer architecture concepts, website creations, and robotics (using Lego Mindstorms). At times, you may find programming to be quite challenging, and I urge you to persevere by working hard, asking questions, and seeking outside help when needed. Our class will be very collaborative, so please ask your neighbor and contribute if your neighbor is struggling. Reading and questions will periodically be assigned for homework, and it is expected that you complete these for the scheduled date. Moreover, it may be necessary for you to spend time outside of class working on your programming assignments. With hard work and dedication, you will succeed and learn a lot about computer programming!
