Welcome to second grade!
I have been teaching for 16 years in both private and public schools, using both traditional and Montessori elementary curriculums (grades 1-6). For the last 4 years I have happily taught second grade at Woods. I thoroughly enjoy integrating the Core Knowledge curriculum with the NC Standards, as I find this to be a challenging and enriching combination for students.
I moved to Fearrington Village in 2003. after much traveling and living throughout the US. I have 3 adult sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 grandchildren, and 5 cats. Peter, Sally, Mary Frances (age 10) and William (age 2) also live in Pittsboro. Both Sally and Peter work as social workers/counselors in the Chatham School District; David has just moved to Cary and is continuing his medical practice in infectious diseases there; while Steven and Stacy live in NM finishing up their masters programs in biology. The cats and I are delighted to have so much family nearby!
I love teaching and hope to pass on a love of learning to each child. Please contact me about any questions you might have about the curriculum or my approach to teaching your child.
