To be teaching at Woods Charter School is an honor and a privilege and I am thrilled to be here! My entire life I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. However, sometime during my high school years I made the decision that teaching wasn’t "glorified-enough." While I knew teaching was out I didn’t have a back up plan so I took every class possible and ended up with a B.S. in Liberal Arts from Mount Olive College. After a few various jobs, I soon realized that I was not fulfilled. So, I returned to school and earned my teaching certification from Meredith College. Finally, I could pursue a career in teaching -- my true calling.
I’ve taught second, third, and fourth grades. Third grade is my favorite because it is such a huge transitional year for children. Children grow exponentially during their third grade year academically, personally, and socially. As their teacher, I am fortunate to witness this transformation first-hand.
As a teacher my goals are:
· For students to feel safe, respected, and cared about.
· To teach each child at least one new thing every day.
· To help children realize that they are capable of exceeding all expectations.
· To instill within them a love of learning.
My favorite sound is: “Ooooooooh! I get it!"
I’m looking forward to another extraordinary year at this remarkable school.
Ms. Green
