  • Regional Spelling Bee
  • 3/08/2010
  • Emma Lanford (fourth grader) made it to round 4 in the regional spelling bee on Saturday, March 6, at Duke University. She was in the top 17 out of 54 students, most of whom were 8th graders. Some of the words she had to spell were loam, succotash, and implement. The winner was an 8th grader from another charter school. We are very proud of Emma for representing Woods so well, and we look forward to next year's bee in elementary and middle school. Thanks to Heather Gallagher for organizing our local bee.

  • Erica Berry led a team of parents in organizing, building, counting and celebrating the second annual Read-A-Thon for our elementary division. This Read-A-thon was very successful raising money to go towards placing a computer and printer in each classroom - Kindergarten through fourth grade. A heartfelt thank you to Erica and all the parents that assisted in making this PTSA fund raiser such a success. And a great job on the part of our terrific students with the many hours of reading!

  • All year long, once a month the faculty have been treated to wonderful goodies including breakfast, lunch and snacks. Parents from each grade have contributed to these wonderful indulging days and we all would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness. And none of this would be possible without Nicolle Stewart leading the way with coordinating and organizing each month. Hats off to you Nicolle!!!
