An Introduction to the Board
The Woods Charter School is parent-controlled. Each year the parents vote for Board members, who serve two year terms on staggered cycles so that at any give time at least half the Board members have one year of experience. The elected members of the Board are all parents themselves. Other members of the Board are a teacher representative elected by the staff, a student representative elected by the students, the principal, and an ‘at-large' member of the community (not necessarily a parent) elected by the Board itself. The Board sets policy and governs the school, while the principal manages the school on a day-to-day basis.
School Board meetings are regularly scheduled for the second Thursday in the month. The dates for these meetings are available on the calendar to the right. Please note that meetings that fall on days other than the second Thursday of the month are denoted with an *.
The members of the Board for school year 2009/2010 are listed below. Each July, the new business year starts and officers are re-elected, changes will be posted accordingly.
